Chinese Valerian Oil is a natural essential oil obtained by steam distillation from the roots and rhizomes of Valeriana officinalis (Valerian), a perennial herb in the Valerianaceae family. China is a major global producer, with core cultivation areas in Guizhou (Fanjing Mountain), Jiangxi, Hunan, Hubei, Sichuan, and Heilongjiang. Fanjing Mountain in Guizhou is renowned for its high active ingredient content.The oil is a greenish‑brown to dark amber clear liquid with a characteristic woody, balsamic, musk‑like, earthy aroma. Key active constituents include valerenic acid, valerone, valerenol, isovaleric acid, borneol esters, and pinene. It is famous for its sedative, hypnotic, anxiolytic, antispasmodic, and analgesicproperties.
