Chinese Melaleuca alternifolia Oil, commonly known as Tea Tree Oil (TTO), is a natural essential oil steam‑distilled from the fresh branches and leaves of Melaleuca alternifolia (Australian Tea Tree), a plant in the Myrtaceae family. Introduced to China in the early 1990s, it is widely cultivated in Guangxi, Guangdong, Fujian, Yunnan, and Sichuan. China has become a major global producer, with Guangxi as the core region.It is a colorless to pale yellow clear liquid with a strong, fresh, camphoraceous‑herbaceous aroma, warm and spicy. The key active component is terpinen‑4‑ol (35–48%), plus γ‑terpinene, α‑terpinene, 1,8‑cineole (≤5%), p‑cymene, and α‑pinene. It is renowned for its broad‑spectrum antibacterial, antifungal, antiviral, anti‑inflammatory, and immune‑boosting properties.
